Kees Aarts started his career as advisor at McKinsey on R&D innovation and business development. In 2009, Kees Aarts and Tarique Arsiwalla founded Protix with the aim to contribute to a sustainable food system by developing ingredients from insects.
Protix is a highly technological and data driven insect producer, regarded for its automated breeding and rearing process. The company has turned insect production into a commercial success by serving the animal feed industry, while also developing food applications for consumers. Over the last years Protix has been awarded with several grants, prizes and honours. Among which the Technology Pioneer award by the World Economic Forum. Aarts holds a MSc title in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University, The
Netherlands.

Mr. García is an Economist from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Mr. García is a past Co-Chairman of the Global Salmon Initiative, and former President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Chile. Before joining Camanchaca, Mr. García served as President & CEO of the Latin America and the Caribbean Division of American Life Insurance Company (ALICO/AIG). He has been a teacher in areas of economics and finance at various Chilean universities.

He has co-founded several new ventures within shipping, finance and fish farming, and held roles as CFO and CEO in venture backed companies. Mr. Haga’s deep expertise as a management consultancy partner advising company CEOs and BoD makes him a valued board member in a number of Norwegian companies. Mr. Haga holds a MSc. In Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and an MBA in Technology Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and MIT Sloan School of Management.

Nordic Aquafarms Inc
Erik Heim is President of Nordic Aquafarms Inc in the US, and founder of Nordic Aquafarms in Norway. Nordic Aquafarms is a pure-play land-based seafood company with operations in Norway, Denmark and the US. Previous positions include CEO of Nordic Aquafarms in Norway, chairman of Fredrikstad Seafoods, and chairman of Sashimi Royal. Today, the subsidiary Fredrikstad Seafoods, if the first large-scale grow-out facility for salmon in Norway. Sashimi Royal is selling Yellowtail Kingfish across Europe. Mr. Heim is currently heading up the company´s expansion in the US, with large RAS projects in progress in Maine and California.

Mr. Jacobsen (born 1966) has been the CEO of Bakkafrost since 1989. Mr. Jacobsen is educated at Aarhus School of Business, Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and Accounting (HD-R). From 1982 to 1988, Mr. Jacobsen was Accounting Manager of the former P/f Bakkafrost, and from 1988 until 2006, he held the position as Managing Director of the former P/f Bakkafrost.
 
Kristoffer Jordheim

Mr. Jordheim is part of the seafood team in Pareto Securities’ Investment Banking division. He spends all his time working on financials transactions in the seafood industry, both domestically and internationally. He has extensive experience from various type of M&A, equity capital markets and debt capital markets transactions. In total, he has twelve years experience in investment banking. Prior to joining Pareto Securities in 2014, he spent seven years in SEB and two years in DNB. Kristoffer started his carrier as an equity analyst. He holds an MSc degree in finance from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). In addition, he spent two years in the Norwegian Navy, including an officer’s degree from the Royal Norwegian Navy Officer Candidate School.
 
Carl-Emil Kjølås Johannessen

Mr. Johannessen holds a MSc in Economics and Business Administration with specialization in Finance from the Norwegian School of Economics (siv.øk. NHH). Johannessen has been working with Pareto as a Seafood Analyst for 3 years covering most of the listed seafood companies. Johannessen has ppreviously been involved in the salmon farming business both through a part time job in Grieg Seafood and through the family business (Fossen AS) later sold to Lerøy Seafood Group.
 
Karim Kurmaly

Karim Kurmaly’s path to CEO at Veramaris could be labelled as destiny: Growing up on the coast of Kenya, Karim was captivated by marine life already as a young boy. This fascination was a sign of things to come, as Karim did his Marine Science doctorate at renowned Bangor University in Wales. Together with his colleagues at Veramaris, Karim now shares one revolutionary vision of making aquaculture more sustainable through omega-3 fatty acids from natural marine microalgae, reducing the industry’s reliance on wild-caught fish. This breakthrough in fish nutrition is one aspect of conserving finite marine resources, all the while taking on the challenges of feeding an ever-growing population responsibly. Karim worked for multiple companies, including 16 years at DSM, roughly ten of those in its Animal Nutrition & Health business in Asia Pacific and India, before taking on his role as CEO of Veramaris in 2018. Veramaris, a joint venture of DSM and Evonik, is headquartered in Delft, Netherlands.

Therese Log Bergjord joined Skretting in 2017 as Chief Executive Office of Skretting, Chief Operating Officer of Nutreco Aqua Feed Division, and member of Nutreco Executive Committee. Therese started her career in ConocoPhillips where she had various leading roles within the Treasury/Commercial area. She changed to the Aquaculture industry in 2003 where she worked as Vice President Commercial for Pan Fish and Global Sales Director for Skretting, she has considerable expertise in the aquaculture industry. In 2009 she became Managing Director Norway for Compass Group, a world leading food and support services company. Her latest role in Compass was to head up Compass Group Nordic business. Therese studied Economics at the University of Stavanger.

In his former position as VP Business Development at the Merhav Group, Mr. Maiman has had the opportunity to evaluate, develop, and manage multiple operations in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Water treatment and Agricultural industries, and that was where he first encountered the land based aquaculture sector. Impressed by the potential of the nascent field, Mr. Maiman left his former position and dedicated himself to study the opportunity in depth, culminating in the founding and launch of Kingfish Zeeland in 2015. Graduated from Columbia University in 2003.

Co-founder and Managing Partner of Aqua-Spark, an investment fund working to transform the global aquaculture industry by investing throughout the aquaculture value chain in businesses that help realize aquaculture’s potential of being the most resource efficient and healthiest protein source, while taking pressure off of the ocean. Aqua-Spark is actively invested in fourteen such companies, from truly sustainable farming operations to alternative feed ingredients like microbes and insects to alternative ways to battle disease, with plans to build a portfolio of 60-80 companies. Amy sits on the board of Love the Wild, XpertSea, eFishery and Energaia. Prior to Aqua-Spark Amy served as director of the TED Conference’s annual TED Prize for almost a decade, leading more than twenty global collaborations across a broad spectrum of sectors, including healthcare, education, science, technology, conservation, art, and activism. With TED, her list of notable projects include: Jamie Oliver’s Food revolution, JR’s Inside Out Project, and Bono’s One.org among others, including Sylvia Earle’s Mission Blue, which led to the development of Aqua-Spark as a way to take pressure off the ocean and tackle food security.

Mark joined Benchmark in 2010 from PKF (UK) LLP (now BDO LLP), where he was a Partner and National Chairman of the Food Sector Group. Mark’s experience at PKF was focussed on corporate finance, including leading on M&A and the strategic development of high-growth small and mid-market businesses.

Mr. Talseth has a long record of accomplishments from the seafood and banking industries. Thor is responsible for managing the investment process related to equity opportunities within AMERRA Capital Management – an Agri-business focused Asset Manager based in New York. Mr. Talseth has been actively involved in a number of large seafood transactions as an investment professional, senior executive, advisor and banker. He is Founding Partner of Neptune Partners, and has previously been Head of Seafood within Corporate Finance at Arctic Securities, Executive Chairman of the Board of Aqua Bio Technology ASA, Managing Director of Landsbanki Norway, Chief Financial Officer at Catch Communication ASA, and Chief Executive Officer for Fjord Marin ASA. Mr. Talseth holds a B.Sc. in Finance from Trondheim Business School (TØH), and programs from Executive Master of Management from The Norwegian Business School (BI).

Mr. Tyssøy has over 30 years of experience from the investment industry I Norway. He worked at DnB as a stock broker until 1995 and then for 5 years in Vesta/Skandia Insurance as portfolio manager/CIO. He was one of the founders at Holberg Forvaltning in year 2000 , which is an independent asset manager. Have since 2012, together with colleague Jann Molnes worked on mapping the global listed seafood industry and markets. In February 2015 we launched Holberg Triton, a global mutual fund which do invest in listed seafood and seafood related companies.
